US military get new drone to track North Korean and Chinese warships

Drones like the Triton are not constrained by the human limitations as manned aircraft and offer astonishing levels of endurance. The Triton can fly upwards of 55,000 feet for up to 24 hours at a time, weighs 32,000 pounds and has a wingspan of 130.9 feet and a length of 47.6 feet.

High speed VTOL attack drone

China has revealed a high-speed vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) attack drone fitted with a unique eight rotor electrical engines. The eight rotors enable the 170 Kg maximum-take-off-weight drone to achieve a top speed of 60kmph at an altitude of 3000 meters which is nearly twice of conventional VTOL drones equipped with four rotor engines. Called A-Hawk, the drone is being displayed for the first time internationally at the Dubai Airshow currently underway. It caused quite a flutter among representatives of Middle Eastern and Western defence personnel and industry executives attending the biennial event. “I have never quite seen anything like this,” a representative of an Italian firm said.

Drones Facility Opens in Cambridge

The new Amazon drones facility has opened in Cambridge. Located at One Station Square adjacent to Cambridge Station, the new building is a 60,000 sq. ft. development that will when at full capacity be home to over 400 highly-skilled employees including machine learning scientists, knowledge engineers, data scientists, mathematical modellers, speech scientists and software engineers. Amazon already has hundreds of employees in Cambridge and is recruiting extensively as part of its increased expansion plans in the city.
